Positivity-Happy Easter

Paint Those Eggs With Positivity!

This weekly post highlights positivity in the martial arts from around the world. Unfortunately, it is far too easy to find negative stories on the internet. Positive ones, however, are harder to find. Let’s recognize and celebrate those martial artists and schools who are doing good things in their communities, as well as, making great accomplishments.

Going to college can be an exciting time and experience for a young adult. Besides the various classes, many colleges have a sense of community, of being part of a bigger whole. This is partially achieved through participation in events and clubs. We as martial artists can leave a positive and lasting impact on our colleges, though. Women who have experienced violence typically experience it differently than a man would. Educating women on methods for protecting themselves just makes good sense. This is why it is easy to see many martial arts schools offer self-defense seminars specifically for women. But how many have committed to it as an integral part of what they do in their communities? Here we have a local news video interview I found with a martial artist I personally know, but did not know about this. Grandmaster Nick Chamberlain, I salute and commend you and your instructors for your commitment to women’s self-defense in your community!

Here we have an article about a young woman who experienced a devastating setback that could have taken so much away from her physically and emotionally. Yet she credits her time in the martial arts for her ability to overcome and persevere!
