This past fall, Whistlekick launched the inaugural Never Settle Awards. These were created to honor individuals for their work and presence in their own community and that of the greater martial arts community as a whole. The Enduring Footprint is one of the awards created to honor people for their lasting impact on the martial arts community over a significant period of time. Below are the two runners-up in this category – you can read about all four recipients here.
Brittney Rose
Brittney Rose inspires her students to newer heights of training and goals, embodying the concept of constant learning. Not satisfied to just be a great martial artist, passes on her knowledge and helps other people gain strength and confidence in themselves. For more than 15 years she has refined a process for helping new students feel comfortable and safe. Her nominator wrote, “She pioneered our preschool programs and wrote the curriculum. She really enjoys working with kids diagnosed with learning disabilities. She has made such an impact locally that she is recognized everywhere she goes and highly regarded as an expert in childhood behavior management. Her classes are often recommended by behavioral psychologists and therapists.” Brittney is truly a pioneer in today’s forever changing world.
Dennis Campo
Dennis Campo has left an everlasting footprint on many people. Dennis can be found up and down the East Coast training under Bill “Superfoot” Wallace. Dennis is always welcoming and definitely has a smile that will light up any room. He has been described by many as ” wicked friendly” and treats everyone as family and with respect. He is an inspiration to many martial artists. There are those that embody the traditional values of martial arts and others that are great fighters. As one put it, “Dennis is the embodiment of both aspects. He is a treasure to the martial arts community and everyone is better off for knowing him. You can have many guest instructors teach at your school and he will quickly become the most requested and always brings it.” The world is a bit better because of people like Dennis .
